The highly anticipated Mashemeji Derby between archrivals AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will take place at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday 24 November.
Despite being closed down for renovations ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 that will be played between 1-28 February 2025 in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, SportPesa Blog understands that the pitch was not affected and will be used for the high risk match.
As it will be the first Mashemeji Derby of the 2024/2025 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season, both teams will be looking for nothing short of three points to calm their fans ahead of disappointing starts to the season.
Tomas Trucha’s AFC Leopards will be seeking their fourth win of the season after eight matches while Gor Mahia, who have recently parted ways with Brazilian tactician Leo Martin Neiva, will be going in search of their third win of the season after six matches.

Last season, K’Ogalo under Johnathan McKinstry’s guidance claimed the bragging right after dominating in both legs.
In the first leg, Gor Mahia hosted AFC Leopards at the Moi International Stadium and won 2-0, with Benson Omalla scoring a brace.
In the second leg played at Nyayo Stadium, Gor Mahia completed the double over Ingwe with a 1-0 victory.
Austin Odhiambo scored the only goal of the match in the first half, and despite Gor Mahia being reduced to 10 men after goalkeeper Kevin Omondi was sent off for fouling Victor Omune, they held on to win.
