Shabana FC finally managed to register their first win in the 2024/25 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) on Sunday.
This is after the Kisii-based side secured a narrow 1-0 win over Kenya Police FC in an entertaining match played at the Gusii Stadium.
Shabana, who entered the match as underdogs, gave everything on the pitch to record the morale-boosting win.
The club’s assistant manager Peter Okidi made a couple of changes in his lineup, starting the duo of Justine Omwando and Sam Kintu, who did an excellent job in the midfield, alongside the experienced Cliff Nyakeya.

However, Nyakeya picked up an injury in the 25th minute, forcing Okidi to replace him with Kevin Omunde.
Despite Nyakeya’s blow, Shabana continued with their good display and eventually managed to break the deadlock in the 35th minute.
The goal was scored by Vincent Nyabuto, who received a sweet pass from James Mazembe, before firing the ball past Police FC goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.
After the goal, the Glamour Boys did not lose concentration as they have done in recent fixtures and went to the break with a narrow lead.
In the second half, Police FC tried to find an equalizer but Shabana’s defense had all answers to every question they asked, ensuring all the three points remained in Kisii.
In other matches played on Sunday, Murang’a Seal were beaten 2-0 by visitors Kakamega Homeboyz while Bidco United brought Bandari’s unbeaten start to the season (3W 3D) to an end after handing them a 2-0 defeat at the Mbaraki Sports Club.
Bidco United’s goals were scored by Clinton Asiago and Marvin Amuka in the 42nd and 45th minutes respectively.
On the other hand, Oliver Majak and Moses Shumah found the back of the net for Kakamega Homeboyz in the match played at the SportPesa Arena.
