Kenya’s foreign-based professional footballers posted mixed performances for their clubs over the weekend.
Some of them like Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga and Timothy Ouma, continued with their impressive displays while others had a bad day in office.
Here is a brief wrap involving some of the Harambee Stars and Harambee Starlets players.
Olunga scores fifth goal of the season
Harambee Stars goal poacher Michael Ogada Olunga continued with his impressive form in front of goal on Friday night.
The experienced player, who missed four games after the start of the season due to injury, scored a consolation goal for league leaders Al Duhail who succumbed to an unexpected 2-1 defeat in the hands of Al Shahaniya.
Olunga’s strike was not enough to help the current leagues mount a comeback in the match played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium as Dutch international Pelle Van Amersfoort had done damage with a twelve-minute brace in the first half of the Round 6 league encounter.
Olunga is expected to join the Harambee Stars camp later this week ahead of the upcoming 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier where Kenya face Cameroon in a double header.

Nekesa suffers ACL Injury, set to miss the rest of the season
Harambee Starlets goal poacher Marjolen Nekesa is expected to be sidelined for the entire 2024/2025 season after picking up an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
The Czech Republic-based player picked up the injury during a training session with her club Slavia Praha.
The injury, which usually takes over six months for someone to recover made her miss the important UEFA Women’s Champions League clash where Slava Praha was bundled out by Galatasaray who won the two-legged match after securing a 4-3 aggregate score.

Timothy Ouma helps IF Elfsborg secure huge win in Sweden
Former Nairobi City Stars magician Timothy “Babu” Owino played a crucial role in helping his side IF Elfsborg hammer Kalmar FF 3-1 in a Swedish topflight match.
The 20-year-old featured for the entire match, dispatching some neat passes to connect IF Elfsborg’s attack and defense.
The hosts Kalmar FF were the first to open the scoring in the 4th minute of the match through Dino Islamovic.
However, their happiness was cut short after just four minutes minutes when Norwegian defender Lars Sætra scored an own goal to restore parity.
Elfsborg later took the lead in the 40th minute via Jalal Abdullai before Michael Baidoo made it 3-1 with four minutes remaining to the end of the regulation time.
Ouma has had a good week with IF Elfsborg after scoring and assisting in a UEFA Europa League match where his employers narrowly lost 3-2 to AZ Alkmaar.

Omondi was involved in all UTA Arad’s goals, assisting two and scoring one. He assisted Valentin Costache’s first goal in the 12th minute before finding the back of the net himself in the 64th minute.
The player, who was born and raised in Nairobi, later assisted Jordan Kadiri’s goal in the 78th minute of the encounter that was staged at the Stadionul Dr. Constantin Rădulescu.
