Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will launch their new jerseys for the 2024/2025 season on Thursday (26) afternoon, SportPesa Blog can confirm.

The stunning kits designed by celebrated Tanzanian fashion icon Sheria Ngowi are set to mark the start of a new era in terms of kitting for the 21-time Kenyan champions who are expected to don the jerseys for the first time on Saturday when they play Mathare United in their first match in the 24/25 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.

According to Ngowi, the kits’ designs are inspired by K’Ogalo’s rich history since their formation to becoming the most successful club in Kenya.

The home kit will be in K’Ogalo’s traditional green colour and features an aerial map of Kisumu County – Gor Mahia’s spiritual heartland – in black. It also showcases a powerful pattern that symbolizes the waves of Lake Victoria which is the cradle of the Luo people in Kenya.

The colors on the away jersey are white (symbolizing the waters of Lake Victoria), black (representing the Luo people, who are of African origin) and green (standing for the natural vegetation of Kisumu County, the ancestral homeland of the Luo people).

The third kit will see Gor Mahia don a full black kit symbolizing the African heritage and the Luo community.

Speaking to SportPesa Blog, Ngowi, who is celebrated for his incredible work with Tanzanian giants Yanga SC and the Zanzibar national team, expressed his delight getting to work with Gor Mahia and revealed the inspiration behind his designs.

“First, I am very grateful to enter the Kenyan market after doing well in Tanzania. What we have missed for a long time is having kits that tell our own story. In the European markets, most of the time they have a kit that tells the history of a team.

That is the exact thing I did at Yanga which proved to be successful and that I have now done at Gor who have a very rich story to tell. I am doing this for the people to feel they are part and parcel of the product and I hope the fans will receive the kits with great excitement,” Ngowi said.

The kits will be available on the club’s social media platform, SportPesa’s social media pages and Sheria Ngowi’s handles.
