The 26th edition of the Safari 7s, scheduled to take place from 11-13 October 2024 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County, has received a massive boost after Kenya Breweries Limited announced a 22 million sponsorship package on Tuesday.

This year’s edition will mark a break away from tradition as it will be held outside Nairobi for the first time with the men’s national rugby 7s side, Shujaa, seeking to defend the title they won in the 2023 edition held at the RFUEA Grounds.

During the partnership announcement at KBL headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi, the managing director of KBL stated that their collaboration aims to further support rugby in the country.

“We are investing 22 million into this year’s Safari 7s and we will be the official beverage partner. This is a fantastic opportunity to continue nurturing rugby in Kenya,” he said.

“It is an honor to be part of this. We truly value this relationship that has lasted for 30 years. The partnership between Tusker and Kenya Rugby has developed to the point where it’s hard to discuss rugby without mentioning Tusker,” Ocitti added.

Kenya Shujaa are expected to participate in the tournament as they prepare for the HSBC World Series starting in December. The Morans have also confirmed their participation, along with Africa Cup  7s champions Uganda and Zimbabwe who are strong competitors.

The event is also anticipated to draw teams from Qatar, Tunisia, and Britain as well.
