In the first leg tie against Zamalek, a win for the law enforcers will move them a step closer to bagging a ticket to the group stage of the prestigious tournament for the first time in their brief history.

Unlike Zamalek, who boast of two CAF Confederation titles and are the current defending champions in the Confederation Cup, Kenya Police are competing in the tournament for the very first time.

Speaking ahead of the eagerly anticipated fixture, Police head coach Anthony Kimani expressed confidence in his charges overcoming the North Africans.

“We have a chance to make history. Zamalek is a formidable side but that doesn’t intimidate us. We are here to rewrite the script with a win. We have players who have competed at the highest level and that experience in the team gives us an edge,” he explained.

On his part, team captain Musa Mohammed requested football fans to turn up in large numbers to support them.

According to the experienced player, the upcoming tie is not only about Kenya Police FC but the country at large.

Meanwhile Zamalek tactician Jose Gomes has divulged that they do not underrate their opponents because football is an unpredictable game.

“In football anything can happen. So the focus is to do our best to win the game and after let’s see what happens.

We have to respect our strong opponent because if we give them space and let them believe in the good things that they can do, they can be very strong,” stated Gomes.
