United Arab Emirates (UAE) outfit Al Nasr has completed the transfer for fast-rising Kenyan midfielder Elly Owande.

Owande, who has previously featured for Migori Youth, completed a free transfer to the club over the weekend after a successful trial.

According to a statement issued by Al Nasr on Monday morning, September 9, Owande will start his stint at the club with the U-23 side.

“Al-Nasr football company signs Kenyan player Elly Owande and he will be held in our U23 team in the resident category,” the communique read.

Reacting after landing a three-year contract, Owande took to social media to express his gratitude to everyone who has played a role in his budding career.

“Dear MYTA family and Chairman Abdi Aziz Osman, I want to express my deepest appreciation for all you have done for me since I joined the club at the age of 9. Your unwavering support, mentorship, and belief in me have been invaluable.

You not only nurtured my talent on the field but also ensured I had the opportunity to pursue my education,” he stated.

The skillful player ended by thanking Migori Youth FC and promising to carry with him the lessons and values he gained during his stay at the club. 

Owande broke into the limelight during the 2023 CECAFA U23 Championships that was held in Kakamega and Kisumu. 

He played an influential role to help Kenya reach the final where they narrowly lost 2-1 to Uganda in the hotly contested final staged at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.
