KCB RFC saw their revamped squad get the desired results as they won all their group matches to advance to the 2024 Kabeberi 7s main cup quarterfinals as the Pool D winners following convincing wins over MKU Thika, MMUST Rugby and hosts Mwamba on Saturday.

KCB beat Thika 39-0 in their first match before inflicting a 29-5 defeat over hosts Mwamba. The bankers then wrapped up their day one action with a 26-5 win over MMUST who were the second team through to the cup quarters.

Strathmore Leos also stormed the last 8 with a classy top-of-the-table finish after a run that included a stunning 22-17 victory over current SportPesa 7s Circuit leaders Kabras Sugar RFC.

The varsity side then saw off Nakuru 24-0 win before sealing Pool A top spot with a 35-0 thrashing over Impala.

Joining them in the cup quarters was Kabras who bounced back from the opening defeat with 31-7 and 22-12 victories over Impala and Nakuru respectively.

Elsewhere, Menengai Oilers also ended day one unbeaten after seeing off Stallions 43-0, Kisumu 43-7 before wrapping up their day one action with a 31-07 win over the Catholic Monks. From Pool B, Oilers are joined by Catholic Monks who beat Kisumu 10-0 and Stallions 19-17.

In Pool C, Quins topped the group after three wins in three matches. The other three teams lost two games and won one game each bringing their total points to 5 per team (win=3 points and loss=1 point).

In such a situation where there’s a three-team tie, the goal difference was used as the determinant, Daystar Falcons who had +5 progressing at the expense of Blakblad who had -15 points and Nondies who had -17.

KCB topped Pool D with convincing wins over MKU Thika beating them 39-0, they beat host Mwamba RFC 29-5 before wrapping up up their day one action with a 26-5 win over MMUST who were the second team to through to the cup quarters.
