Highly rated Harambee Stars midfielder Stanley Wilson has officially completed his move from Kariobangi Sharks to Swedish topflight side AIK, SportPesa Blog can confirm.

This is after AIK officially confirmed the signing of the 18-year-old on Thursday evening in a deal until December 2027.

“AIK Fotboll has reached an agreement with FC Kariobangi Sharks on a transfer of 18-year-old midfielder Stanley Wilson and the agreement between the parties is valid until December 31, 2027,” a statement from AIK confirmed the move.

“We welcome Stanley to AIK Fotboll. With patience and hard work, we strongly believe that Stanley will be a top player for AIK,” sports director Thomas Berntsen commented.

“I’ve waited a long time to get this opportunity. I am very happy to be part of the AIK family and I look forward to fulfilling my dream of becoming Swedish champion with the club,” Wilson remarked.

During the international break in September 2023, Wilson made the headlines after being called up to the Harambee Stars squad by Turkish coach Engin Firat at only 17 years of age.

He sat on the bench on 12 September 2023 in the meeting with South Sudan (0–1) at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Kenya.

During the summer of 2024, he was also a substitute against Zambia and Zimbabwe. On 30 June 2024, Stanley made his debut for Kenya as they faced the Union Comoros (0–2) at the Isaac Wolfson Sports Stadium in South Africa’s iBhayi in the COSAFA Cup 2024.

Stanley started on the bench in the number 8 shirt and replaced John Ochieng in the 55th minute of the match.

In January 2024, AIK invited Stanley Wilson to a trial with the club during the training camp in Spanish Marbella that was carried out between January 29 and February 10, 2024.

AIK played two friendlies during the camp, against Serbian FK TSC Backa Topola (0–2) on February 3 and Norwegian Sarpsborg 08 FF (0–2) on February 9, and Wilson played the second half against FK TSC Backa Topola.

After returning from Marbella, Stanley trained with AIK for a while and on February 28, 2024 also played a friendly match at Årsta IP with AIK’s P19 team against Hammarby’s ditto.

Stanley started the game and also scored a goal in the 3–1 victory. He then returned to Kenya to come back for a trial with AIK during the summer.

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, AIK’s new head coach Mikkjal Thomassen led his first training session at Karlberg and Stanley Wilson was on site.
