SportPesa Mega Jackpot

47-year-old Josphat Wainaina woke up to a different reality on Monday morning after his 99 shillings yielded a total of 3,447,435 Kenyan shillings courtesy of the lucrative SportPesa Mega Jackpot bonus.

On a day that Wainaina would normally wake up to the hustle of ferrying passengers along the busy Kayole route, the bus driver got up to a mood-changing call from leading online gaming firm SportPesa who reached out to him on becoming the newest millionaire in town.

The bus driver, who is a member of the famous Forward Travellers Sacco, played the SportPesa Mega Jackpot that stood at Ksh 355,561,425 using a stake of 99 bob only and correctly predicted 15 out of the 17 games.

With bonuses in the SportPesa Mega Jackpot starting from 12 correct games, Wainaina landed the over 3.4 million windfall, his first win since registering with SportPesa back in 2017.

“I was home following the last match on the lineup and as soon as it ended, I was certain about winning the bonus,” said the supportive father of two.

“Shortly after the matches were over, I received a text from SportPesa informing me that I had won a bonus of over 3.4 million Kenyan shillings,” he narrated.

Wainaina’s 15 out of 17 correct predictions denied him a chance to be the highest-ever jackpot winner in Kenya as the overall prize stood at over 355 million which was up in the SportPesa’s week-on-week progressive Mega Jackpot.

Esther Kariuki, Wainaina’s wife, also gave her share of the story as she narrated how she had at first doubted the message and even told her husband to be careful presuming it could be people out to shortchange.

Their doubts were soon wiped away after being invited to SportPesa’s offices where they were presented with the cheque that confirmed their win.

“I did not believe the big win until we got to the SportPesa offices. I was a doubting Thomas for a bit but I found out it was true and that SportPesa is real,” she said.

She went ahead and promised to be a new member of the SportPesa family, urging other people to also register and be part of the winning team.

Asked about his plans, Josphat, a business-oriented man talked about getting his bus repaired so he could continue his matatu business as he also put his family needs as part of his plans.

Josphat affirmed to continue gaming with SportPesa, as a show of support for the company’s significant investment in growing and developing the sports and talent development in the country, coming in the backdrop of the launch of the Tujiamini initiative.

Powered by SportPesa, Tujiamini is an initiative that seeks to provide a platform, including up to 30M shillings in funding, for individual, team sports and various talent, in a year-long campaign that will go around the country in a move aimed at evoking the sense of pride in Kenya’s sports and talent ecosystem.
