Juventus are confident of a first leg win in their Europa League semi-final clash against record winners Sevilla on Thursday.

The Serie A outfit beat Sporting Lisbon 2-1 over both quarterfinal legs, while Sevilla beat Manchester United 5-2 to advance to the semis.

Juventus have never won the Europa League and are desperate to salvage some silverware after a troubled season that saw them deducted 15 points.

Sevilla on the other hand are seeking to win a record-extending 7th Europa League title but need to get past this stage first.

The winner of this tie, will either meet Roma or Bayer Leverkusen who are playing in the other semifinal on the night.

Sevilla have won each of their last six matches against Italian clubs in the Europa League; the most recent saw them defeat Inter in the 2020 final.

Sevilla have reached the semi-finals of the Europa League on five occasions – more than any other team in the history of the competition.

They have also gone on to lift the trophy on every previous occasion when making it this far and will use this as a morale boost.

Juventus have also progressed to the finals the last two times they have been in this position, beating Real Madrid and AS Monaco.
