Shabana FC receive new bus & 20M boost from President Ruto as Gusii Stadium set for major upgrade

Shabana FC have received a major boost after being handed a brand-new team bus from His Excellency President William Ruto, alongside a financial package meant to support the club during the redevelopment of Gusii Stadium.

The event, held at Gusii Stadium, saw the Head of State fulfill an earlier promise made to Shabana supporters, delivering a state-of-the-art bus valued at KSh 27 million. The gesture was met with excitement from fans and club officials, marking a significant milestone in the club’s infrastructure development.

During the same function, President Ruto also announced an ambitious plan for the redevelopment of Gusii Stadium, confirming that the facility will be demolished to pave the way for a modern venue built to FIFA standards.

“We have invested KSh 1 billion for the construction of a new Gusii Stadium, which should be completed in the next nine months to allow the team to continue playing in the stadium,” he said.

With the demolition set to disrupt Shabana FC’s home fixtures, the President further committed KSh 20 million to support the club during the transition period. The funds are expected to help the team manage logistical and operational needs as they seek alternative venues.

“With construction set to begin and the club not having a place to play, I am giving out KSh 20 million for the club to run its activities until the stadium is complete,” he added.

The redevelopment project will also involve the expansion of the stadium by incorporating the adjacent ASK Showground, creating a larger and more modern sporting complex.

“We will extend the stadium to the land that houses the ASK Grounds so that we can build a proper stadium,” the President explained.

Once demolition begins, Shabana FC will be forced to relocate their home matches for both league and cup competitions. Among the leading alternatives is Raila Odinga Stadium, which the club has previously used and is now being considered as a temporary home ground.

The developments mark a transformative phase for Shabana FC and Gusii football at large, as the club prepares for both short-term disruption and long-term gains from the upgraded facility.

Gusii Stadium has been serving as home ground to Shabana FC , Shabana Youth , Shabana Starlets,Gucha Stars alongside Aps Bomet who have used it as an alternative venue.
