Tunisian Premier League giants Étoile Sportive du Sahel have placed a multi-million shilling price tag on Harambee Stars defender Alphonce Omija following his impressive performances since moving to North Africa.
The Sousse-based club is understood to be demanding a fee in excess of KSh 64.5 million for the Kenyan international amid growing interest from several clubs across the region.
Omija joined Étoile du Sahel from record SportPesa League champions Gor Mahia after an outstanding domestic campaign that elevated his profile both locally and internationally.

His fine form at club level earned him a place in the Harambee Stars squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which was co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Kenya went on to reach the quarter-finals in their maiden appearance at the tournament, with Omija playing a role in the historic run.
Since his arrival in Tunisia, the defender has quickly settled into life at Étoile du Sahel and has become a regular feature in the starting lineup.
When fully fit, Omija has started in almost every match, earning trust from the technical bench due to his defensive solidity, aerial strength and calmness on the ball. His consistent displays have helped the club remain competitive despite a challenging start to the league season.

Reports emerging from Tunisia indicate that Omija’s performances have attracted attention from a number of North African sides, with Libyan heavyweights Al Hilal Benghazi among those keen on his services.
Sources close to the player have exclusively confirmed to the SportPesa Blog that enquiries have already been made, although Étoile du Sahel are not under pressure to sell.

“Yes, we have received offers for him from a number of North African clubs, but at the moment the player is fully focused on playing for his current team,” said a source who requested anonymity.
The source added that the club considers Omija an important part of their plans moving forward.
“The club officials see him as a key member of the squad. They did not start the league strongly, so the main objective right now is to improve performances and challenge for silverware,” the source noted.

Omija’s spell in Tunisia has not been entirely smooth. During the December holidays, the defender faced administrative issues that briefly kept him away from the team.
However, the matter has since been resolved, and he has returned to action in convincing fashion. Since his comeback, Omija has featured in two consecutive matches, with Étoile du Sahel keeping clean sheets in both games.

With his stock continuing to rise, Omija remains one of Kenya’s most promising defenders abroad.
While interest in his services continues to grow, Étoile du Sahel’s valuation makes it clear that any potential suitor will have to dig deep to prise him away from the Tunisian giants.
