AFC Leopards captain Victor Omune calls on fans to stay patient after slow start

AFC Leopards captain Victor Omune has called on fans to remain patient and supportive as the team works to turn around its recent form.

Speaking ahead of their SportPesa League clash against Bandari FC at Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday, October 15, Omune acknowledged the frustrations among the club’s supporters but assured them that the team is focused on bouncing back.

“We all know what’s at stake. Everyone is aware of where we are and we are not happy with the situation. I understand that the fans are also disappointed, but at the end of the day, everything will work out,” Omune said.

AFC Leopards captain remains optimistic

AFC Leopards recently took part in the ODM@20 Tournament, where they finished last after losing to Bandari FC in the knockout round and later to Shabana FC in the third-place playoff. Despite the outcome, Omune viewed the competition as an important learning experience for the team.

“When we played in Mombasa, we picked more positives than negatives. It is true we did not win as we had expected because we went there aiming for the title, but we didn’t get the results we wanted.

Still, we drew a lot of positives from those games that will help us in our upcoming matches,” he noted.

The skipper took the opportunity to rally the club’s loyal fans, encouraging them to keep their faith in the team as they aim to regain their winning form.

“To the fans who have been patient, I urge you to continue showing up in large numbers. These things happen in football, not every club starts the season strongly.

We’ve had a slow start, but that does not mean we are a bad team. Please keep pushing us, keep supporting us, and at the end of the day, we will deliver victories.

I’m urging all fans to come out in big numbers tomorrow because we are determined to get a win,” Omune added.

Having recently faced Bandari, the former Kariobangi Sharks forward believes that encounter gives Leopards an advantage going into the midweek fixture.

“Playing against Bandari recently gave us an advantage because we now understand their strengths and weaknesses. It won’t be an easy match, but we are ready and aiming for all three points,” he said.

The Fred Ambani-coached side will be hoping to use the Kasarani fixture to turn their season around as they seek their first win in the SportPesa League having settled for draws in their opening two matches.
