- Kenya Police FC and Nairobi United kick off their SportPesa League 2025/26 campaign today, Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
- Police FC will look to begin their title defense against Ulinzi Stars, while debutants Nairobi United take on Mara Sugar.
- Another thrilling midweek fixture features Tusker squaring off against Mathare United
The reigning Kenya Premier League champions and FKF Cup holders, Nairobi United, will finally kick off their 25/26 SportPesa League season today, Wednesday, October 1, as matchweek three continues.
Both sides missed the opening two fixtures due to commitments in CAF continental tournaments; Kenya Police FC were involved in the Champions League preliminary round, while Nairobi United were competing in the Confederation Cup qualifiers.

Kenya Police FC vs Ulinzi Stars
Fresh from a narrow escape against Mogadishu City Club, where they advanced on the away goal rule, the Law Enforcers begin their domestic campaign with a disciplined forces derby against Ulinzi Stars.
The match is set for the Police Sacco Ground with a 4:00 PM EAT kickoff.
This marks a welcome return to their home ground for Police after a nearly year-long closure for renovations, which served as a training venue for the recently concluded CHAN 2024 tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

They enter this match aiming to replicate last season’s success and defend their maiden title, buoyed by the confidence of qualifying for the next round of the CAF Champions League.
However, they face a formidable opponent that has started the season with strong momentum.

The Soldiers are undefeated in their opening two matches, having secured a narrow 0-1 away victory over Murang’a SEAL and held Kariobangi Sharks to a goalless draw at home.
Therefore, the Danstun Nyaudo-led side will be aiming to upset the league champions and maintain their unbeaten run in this new SportPesa League era.
Mara Sugar vs Nairobi United
Like Kenya Police, Nairobi United also survived a CAF Confederation Cup elimination, progressing on the away goal rule against Uganda’s NEC FC.
Following that continental effort, the top-flight newcomers begin their historic first SportPesa League season with an away fixture against Mara Sugar at the Awendo Green Stadium, kicking off at 2:00 PM EAT.
The Nicholas Muyoti-led squad aims to start their elite campaign on a high note, hoping to channel the same form that saw them clinch the National Super League title last year.

However, they face a seasoned Mara Sugar side, now in their second top-flight season after being promoted in 2024, who will pose a significant challenge.
This will be Mara Sugar’s second league match; they opened their campaign last weekend with a goalless draw against Kakamega Homeboyz and will be seeking their first victory.

Tusker FC vs Mathare United
Meanwhile, as those two teams make their first appearances, another exciting clash awaits at the Dandora Stadium where Tusker FC will host Mathare United at 3:00 PM.
The Brewers’ new season has been nothing short of disappointing, with defeats in both of their opening matches. They began with a 2-0 loss to KCB and were subsequently defeated 2-1 by Posta Rangers.
Therefore, coach Charles Okere will be looking for nothing less than a victory to get back to winning ways and climb away from the bottom of the table.

With the season still young, they will be desperate to rediscover their form and mount a challenge for a record 13th top-tier title.
They face a John Kamua-led Mathare United side riding a wave of confidence after picking up their first win of the season, a 1-0 result against KCB, which helped them recover from an opening 2-1 loss to Posta Rangers.
This match promises to be a high-octane affair as both teams fight to establish their early-season footing.
